What does DNS stand for?

Domain Name System. It’s the system that translates internet domain names (i.e. www.roundcreative.co.uk) into IP numbers so a computer can understand and locate a website, so when you type a web address into your browser, the computer sends a request to its DNS to ask what its corresponding IP address is. Once found either by searching its local cache or by making requests from higher DNS servers until the IP is found, the DNS sends the IP address to the browser and the page is loaded.
